Hometown: Woodville Occupation: Retired storeCTerk Accomplishments: Mrs. Clark . was bom and raised in Woodville and still resides on the farm passed down from her greatgrandfather, Jonathon Carpenter. As a child growing up in Woodville, she was a witness to the Woodville Tornado of 1929. In 1936, she joined the Woodville Baptist Church and has played the organ and piano as well as directed the choir. She is a member of the WMU group with whom she co-sponsors a child in India. In 1937, she married Clifton Clark and was widowed in 1991. The Clarks had one daughter, Wilma Clark Hitt, who died in 1964. The Clarks raised their only grandchild, Misty Hitt. Mrs. Clark is a retired store clerk. She worked at Flint Hill Store and also at Burke’s Store at Woodville. She is an avid supporter of fox hunting and has raised many champion foxhounds. She served as secretary for the Northern Virginia Fox Hunters Association and has enjoyed recent meets of the Rappahannock Hunt on her property. Mrs. Clark has been the correspondent for the Woodville community since the 70’s. She enjoys gathering the community news and events and encourages all residents to get involved. During 1999, Mrs. Clark suffered a heart attack and stroke. She received over 300 cards during her illness from her friends in Rappahannock. With therapy, hard work and determination, Mrs. Clark has made much progress and has earned the title of “Woodville’s Miracle Lady.” Anyone with news in the Woodville area is encouraged to give Mrs. Clark a call at 9878827.
