So what’s planned for Pi Day this year? Certain restaurants are going to have pumpkin pies available with the mathematical symbol for pi in the center in whipped cream. Same with pizza, but with a cheese pi in the middle. A well-known restaurant plans to create a very large circular tart, so big that it will exude its way out onto the street causing consternation to the villagers and to the staff at VDOT’s local maintenance yard.
It is also rumored that there will be a practice ball game between the Amissville Diameters and the Woodville Radii. Woodville will have to play twice as hard to win. The practice game may be held on Pi Day on neutral ground in Chester Gap. Chester Gap’s claim to fame is that the gap part of their name refers to the fact that even though the calculation of pi has been carried out to over 51 billion places, there still remain more numbers to come. Seventy-four years ago, mathematicians started calling the uncalculated part the “Chester Gap.” Chester Gap still celebrates Pi Day by remaining an unknown.
