This is the second year a Relay for Life has been held in Rappahannock County. It takes place May 19 and 20 on the Rappahannock Elementary School grounds. Registration and campsite set-up begin at 5 p.m. The Relay itself will begin at 7 with opening ceremonies and a “Survivors’ Lap.” At dusk, hundreds of luminaria will be lit, each in memory of a persons who died of or survived cancer. Later, less solemn activities include a picnic, street dancing, games, rollerblading, and a midnight snack of hot pizza.
Co-coordinator Atkins also said that he hopes every single person at the Relay will keep in mind that the Relay is being held on grounds that are used regularly by the county’s children. It is essential that the fields be left clean and safe, both for
