Washington Tbwn Council was agauZ dominated by the Town’s wastewat&C problem and by opposing opinions to the most effective and appropriate* means of solving it. In his report Wastewater Committee ChaiK Charlie Tompkins reviewed tKC Committee’s four year history and£ his involvement as Chairman. He* stressed the validity of the process used by the Committee and bjC Resource International, the Town’41 wastewater study consultant, and ofjj the results obtained through the* study. “
In April, the Committee and' Resource International presented a $1.5 million solution to the problem1 that was met with strong and vocal opposition from the community. That solution called for the construction of a recirculating sand filter treatment system to serve all of the Town’s 120 water system customers, but many; felt that any solution should be directed solely at those parcels with! proven septic problems.
