Regarding the rewards of volunteering, Mrs. Johanson says it is “a wonderful feeling”. “The more you give, the more you get. It’s great.”
Mrs. Johanson would like to encourage people to consider volunteer work with our police; “there are many opportunities in law enforcement that people don’t know about” which are fascinating and enriching, and perhaps a foot in the door for a future career.
She does give one caveat, though: due to the nature of the work, you do have to be willing to submit to, and wait for background check.
