For other children, their challenges in learning may not be evident until they are older. Through the public schools, children 0-21 may be screened to see if she or he may need help to achieve full academic potential. Eligible children from age 3-21 may be served by the schools.

Provides information and referral services to parents seeking help in meeting the needs of their families. Eligibility can be determined for food stamps, Medicaid and temporary assistance to needy families. Coordination with the Head Start program can produce child care assistance for eligible children. The relatively new Children’s Medical Security Insurance Program allows more children to have medical coverage than ever before.

Provides county residents a full array of confidential mental health and substance abuse services as well as services for the seriously mentally ill.
