Unless the Norman house was further off this road or perchance on another then below, where we first saw the chimney remains, was the only semblance of a human habitation. Some more research might yield better clues, but until that time we were satisfied we were on the property.
The Norman family had very early beginnings in Virginia. Courtney Norman seems to have been the progenitor. Mary Wiley’s and Rena Burke’s research, orally and otherwise, has traced at least to an Isaac Norman.
