One of the issues that was repeated at the recent three Town meetings that dealt with wastewater was the availability of definitive information on the scope of the problem. Mr. Tompkins has contended that such information has been collected but has not been made available at the advice of the Town Attorney because, of its sensitivity. Mr. Tompkins offered a tour of the areas in the Tbwn that have experienced septic problems, but can not, at this time he said, make any public disclosure of the information.
It appears as though the Town Council is in no way in accord on the wastewater issue, despite the longevity of the Wastewater Committee’s efforts, and past opportunities for Town- Council members 4 ' and residents to participate in Committee activities.
Mayor Stu Willis has recommended accepting - the Piedmont Environmental Council’s offer of support to develop “a more acceptable solution,” but Chair Tompkin? expressed the opinion that PEC to® would face the issue of nondisclosure of sensitive information, and suggested that they participate iQ Committee activities like any resident has the opportunity to do. —
