addition, scheduled for completion and turnover on Aug. 14, is now expected to be completed on Aug. 16, but that sitework has been significantly delayed by the weather.
He also reported that engineering work on the elementary school lagoon has been completed, and that repair work is expected to start soon. The net result of the sitework delays and lagoon repair requirement is that school will now open sometime after Labor Day.
Assistant Superintendent Mary Ann Biggs reported on the status of school staff hiring. She said that as of Thursday of this week (Aug. 10) the teaching staff- will be complete, but that two speech pathologist positions still need to be filled.
Mrs. Biggs also provided school-wide SOL testing results for 1999-2000 that show that the third grade met state standards in three of four subject areas, the fifth grade met standards in all of five areas, the eighth grade met standards in all of five areas, and the high school met standards in six of eleven
