The Dynamic Duo!
No matter what you call them, David L. Gilmore and Donna Lynn Rector, are no strangers to the stage. They will be appearing at Blue Moon Cafe, just west of Sperryville on Friday, Aug. 11 from 9 p.m. to midnight.
A cover charge begins at 9 p.m. The two of them—combined have 40 plus years experience in the music/entertainment business.
Gilmore plays guitar and sings.
With his high tenor voice and smooth falsetto, he is often compared to Vince Gill and Nick Gravenites. Gilmore can "love you tender" with sweet ballads and belt 'em—out with the best of’em! Growling out the lines of "Five Long Years" Gilmore and "take your there" with his song-storytelling ability.
Gilmore's "partner in time", Donna Lynn Rector, is an ardent fan of Lou Ann Barton ( a blues woman) from "Antone's House of the Blues," Austin, Texas. Rector belts-out some bluesy numbers such as "Red House", "You Can Have My Husband (But, Please, Don't Mess With My Man") and soars with a soprano and Baez vibrato said to produce goosebumps. Rector also accompanies Gilmore on guitar, playing tunes such as "Helpless", "Landslide”, "I Wonder Why", etc., etc.
If you're out to listen tc some mellow music, and some good ole bluest this duo is the < one you're looking for. Mark your calendars for Fridaj evening at 9 p.m.
