THROUGH CHILDREN’S EYES
When a child loses a parent early in life, recent research indicates they are able to move on with their lives as long as they receive adequate support and assistance. Although their grieving bears little resemblence to that of an adult, even very young children grieve. Children respond to loss in accordance with a complex network of interweaving circumstances, which include the emotional responses and parenting abilities of the surviving parent. What this means is that we should listen to grieving children and respond to their individual needs. Too often, our society presumes either that children should be shielded from the truth or that they will show great resiliance. A child’s response to loss, however, is not so predictable.
Taking care of your child’s needs while you are taking care of your own is extremely difficult, so it is important to have the support you need. We can offer help with logistics that make your life easier so you can attend to the important matters of your family’s loss. At the Moser Funeral Home, we know it’s hard to think about these things in advance, but actually it’s only in advance that you can take your time to figure out how you would like things done. And we will lielp you with the details. Call 540-347-3431 (233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton), 24 hours a day.
