The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL) is -holding its 2000 fundraising dvent on Saturday, Oct. 14. .The event will be a dinner with dancing and a silent auction. This will be RAWLs major fund-raising effort for this year and RAWL hopes the community will support it.
RAWL is a unique institution in the Virginia Piedmont. RAWL operates the only "nokill" animal shelter in the seven county area of ■Rappahannock, Fauquier, jEulpeper, Orange, Madison, Warren and Page counties. ■Our primary mission is to find jet loving home to adopt each of Rie stray animals that are brought to our shelter near lAmissville. We have, so far, ]4one well in performing that nhission. In 1999 RAWL adopted out more than 300 dogs, jabout as many as came to the •Shelter. > Each county in Virginia is Compelled by law to operate an ■inimal shelter, and RAWL is Ifche county shelter for Rappahannock.
