tions and spaying and neutering, at a cost of about $100 per dog. All RAWL animals are spayed or neutered and given their shots before they are put up for adoption.
• Dedicated employees to care for the dogs while in residence, smooth out any behavioral problems and help train the dogs for adoption into homes.
• Trips each weekend to places like PetSmart where families looking to adopt pets can meet our RAWL dogs, fall in love and take them home.
• Maintaining and cleaning the kennels and other facilities at the shelter.
RAWL's support for all this comes from the public. Fees for adoption just about cover the veterinary bills for spaying or neutering and shots. The rest must come from donations, from fund-raising events like the Oct. 14 dinner dance, from periodic mailed appeals and from rabies clinics to which veterinarians generously donate their time and supplies.
RAWL needs help from everyone in the community: to help raise funds, to identify possible foundation funding sources, to publicize RAWL's "no-kill" mission, and preach throughout our area that no dog or cat should be homeless and to the extent possible that all dogs and cats should be spayed or neutered, so that, in an ideal future, there will be no unwanted or homeless pets.
