ivsi i i iw vjui viv/C nvvaiu i o given ill the Beef, Dairy Cow, Swine and Sheep Departments. It is awarded to the exhibitors who have done an outstanding job in promoting their individual department.
Caroline Massie, David’s sister, won in the Swine Department as Grand Champion Novice Showmanship. Samantha Falls won first place in the 220-225 weight class for swine and fifth in Junior Showmanship. Kevin Riedel and Adam Rhein also placed in the Showmanship classes.
Adam and his brother Austen won several ribbons in the Nubian breed classes in the Dairy Goat Show. Adam exhibited the second place Nubian junior kid and Austen’s doe kid placed third in the same class. But the big winner in the Dairy Goat Show was Ben Rupchis.
Ben's five Alpine does won all of their Alpine breed classes before his two year old milker won Grand Champion Best Doe in Show and the coveted Best Udder award. Ben "lent" his Grand Champion Doe to Devin Day for Junior Fitting and Showmanship, where Devin won sixth place. (Devin's Nigerian Dwarf Goat died the week prior to the Farm Fair.)
Carly Day placed fourth in the Pet Class with her Nigerian Dwarf Goat.
Devin and Carly took home several ribbons in the Rabbit Show and Kara and Dylan Corbin placed in the Open Pet Show. All in all, it was a very successful show for Rappahannock County exhibitors.
