The Coalition
moves forward
First on the Coalition’s agenda was to present ,the issue and the proposal to the^ Board of Supervisors’ meetingon June 24. Here Light gave a. presentation of the surveyV benefits:
• It satisfies an objective of the County Comprehensive;' Plan.
• It increases the baseline knowledge of the county’s historic resources.
• It can increase community interest in our cultural resources—historical, architectural, and archaeological.
• It can increase friendly! tourism.
• It can qualify owners df historical property for tax benefits.
• It is non-restrictive—a property owner may choose not to participate.
He presented a list of groups and individuals who. have come forward to support the idea and who have con-! tributed money to the survey fund.
At this meeting County Administrator John McCarthy also praised the idea of com-' pleting the survey, as did! many citizens present at the meeting. The presentation! clearly demonstrated that; there is a groundswell of sup-J port for the proposal; then at? the July 2 BOS meeting—as* was reported in this paper—! the supervisors unanimously! approved the proposal. :
