We will celebrate Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 3
and for many it will mean a day off from work,
a paid holiday, and/or a day off from school Ijefore the session really gets underway, but what does $ really mean? 5 Labor Day is a day to recognize and honor the American Labor Movement. It is always the first Monday in September and is observed in the United States and Canada as a legal holiday. In many countries it is celebrated on May 1. ; The Knights of Labor inaugurated the celebration of Labor Day in 1882. Different organizations then petitioned for legislation making the day a legal holiday; in 1887 Colorado actually passed the first law to that affect. The day is marked by cessation from usual labor. 2 Rappahannock’s highways will also be crowded as giotorist look for one more weekend of summer fun during the Labor Day holiday. We encourage drivers to drive defensively and follow the rules of the road to predent traffic crashes and make sure you and your children are buckled up safely. * Eryoy the cooler weather and the fall activities that are quickly approaching.
