Elsie Petty

Mrs. Elsie Martin Petty, 79, of Culpeper died on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at her residence.

She was born in Slate Mills on April 15, 1922 to the late Thomas Hitt and Bessie Johnson Hitt.

Mrs. Petty was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Reva. She worked at Culpeper Laundry and was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Walter L. Petty Jr. and his wife, Shirley of Culpeper and William M. Petty and his wife, Nancy of Amissville; six grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Walter Petty; four sisters, Theresa Hanna, Lucille Carpenter, Irene Hume and Mabel Hoffman and three brothers, Marshall Hitt, Luther Hitt and Bradley Hitt.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth F. Huneycutt officiating.

Interment followed in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
