Sperryville

Those of us who have lived in the county for years have seen many changes to some of the old structures of homes and businesses. With each new owner there is change. As the old saying goes, “nothing stays the same.”
I’m referring to one particular structure on US 211 west of Sperryville known as “Cab Inn.”
Charles H. Estes started selling apples and cider in 1932 from a log cabin that was built with logs they cut on the “Piney Run”. This is now the Shenandoah National Park.
As business increased in 1936 they decided to add a long dining room to the structure to accommodate the growing business.
The first building was then referred to as the “little dining room”. Many gathered there to play bridge. Many happy hours were spent there with their friends.
