The AAEA was founded in 1980 by the late Alexander MackaySmith, who helped begin so many worthy equestrian organizations, and Dr. Joseph Rogers, of the Westmorland Davis Foundation. Membership to the AAEA is based on artistic ability, proven knowledge of equine anatomy, proficiency dealing with human figures, landscape and background. Oil painting by Sandra Fortoush THAI ELEPHANT: Sandra Forbush’s painting follows the Thailand theme of this year’s Smithsonian Conservation Center’s Fall Festival. Thai food will be served and the Thailand ambassador is expected to attend the event, to be held at the National Research Center in Front Royal Oct. 6-7.
