Assembly's decisions on school funding mean that local taxes must increase, and he further expressed concern about the impact of unfunded state mandates on local jurisdictions.
Mr. Baumgardner will be sworn in before the next regular School Board meeting on Jan. 14 which will be his first meeting as the Hampton District member.
The board met in closed session on Jan. 2 for no more than ten minutes to discuss the available choices and then, in open session, chose Mr. Baumgardner from a field of four candidates.
