The Culpeper-Madison Chapter of the American Red Cross has set the following dates for blood drives: Jan. 14 from 12:30 to 6 p.m. at Culpeper Baptist Church and from 2 to 7 p.m. on the same day at the Madison Rescue Squad building; Jan. 21 from 3 to 8 p.m.at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Culpeper and on Jan. 22 from noon to 4 p.m. at Continental Teves in Culpeper.
Area residents are encouraged to mark their calendar and plan to donate.
To give blood, you must be generally healthy, 17 years of age or more and weigh at least 110 pounds. For further information call the Red Cross at 825-8611.
Baptist Church Variety Show
The seventh annual variety show presented and performed by members of the Washington Baptist Church will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Theatre on Gay Street in Washington. This community event has no admission charge and seating is open and unreserved.
4-H winter camp registration
The Culpeper-Shenandoah-Rappahannock 4-H Winter Camp is scheduled for Feb. 7-9 at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center in Front Royal, Va. The theme for the weekend is “Secret Agent.”
Registration will be held in Robinson Lodge from 6:30-7 p.m. on Friday and checkout will be 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Camp is open to any 4-H'er age 9-14 as of Sept. 30, 2003. The cost for the weekend is $65.

Yoga with Lilo
Do you want to be more flexible and feel better physically as well as mentally? Thoughts of spring
Virginia’s historic garden week in April 2003 will feature homes and gardens enjoyed by families of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson as well other prominent Virginians.
Tours are sponsored by the Garden Club of Virginia to benefit the restoration of historic gardens throughout the state.
More than 250 outstanding private homes, gardens and historic landmarks spanning four centuries will be featured on three dozen different tours in the state from April 20-27.
The garden week event, which is celebrating its 70th year, is the oldest and largest statewide house and garden tour event in the nation.
Beginning in February, a comprehensive 220-page guidebook may be obtained by sending a $5 donation payable to Historic Garden Week, 12 E. Franklin Street, Richmond, Va. 23219.

Visit new Thrift Shop
The Washington Ladies Auxiliary Thrift Shop invites menibers of the community to visit its new location at the Washington Volunteer Fire Company building. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. The community is encouraged to stop and see the new shop.
Horsemenys Symposium
The Culpeper Farmer's Cooperative will sponsor a Horsemen's Symposium from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at Fauquier High School in Warrenton. The symposium will include a variety of educational seminars and product displays.
