Chief assessor, Mike Didawick, project manager for Blue Ridge Mass Appraisal Company which did the assessments, said that “once the assessors explain the assessment process and how it is based on the market conditions in Rappahannock County, they they (property owners) understand.
“They usually are surprised it is worth as much as it is appraised,” he said.
What property owners have been telling Mr. Didawick is that “they are concerned about the impact of taxes this year.”
Mr. Didawick said that the amount of taxes each property owner will have to pay on the new assessments can’t be determined until the Board of Supervisors sets the tax rate for this year.
