Pianist Bill Charlap returns to the Theatre, accompanied for the first time by saxophonist Jon Gordon, who was the firstplace winner in the 1996 Thelonius Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. They will be celebrating their new CD, “Contrast,” on the Doubletime label. Charlap’s most recent recording on the Blue Note label is “Stardust,” a CD on which he and his trio are joined by the greats: Tony Bennett, Jim Hall, Shirley Horn, and Frank Wess.
