School Board
poised and
ready for 2003
The Rappahannock County School Board has
passed through a year of difficulty with relative
ease, and appears ready and quite able to conduct its business in 2003.
The departure of the high school principal and his replacement by Roger Mello, a man who is more than up to the task; the resignation of the Superintendent and his interim replacement by Helen Williams, who • has brought renewed cheer and vigor to the staff ranks; the comprehensive search for a permanent replacement that ended well with the signing of Robert Chappell, an old hand in county education; the resignation of board member Rose Ann Sharp and her replacement by an optimistic and energetic Doug Baumgardner—these extra tasks were well-executed by the School Board and seemed not to slow them down one bit.
Chairman Wesley Mills, Aline Johnson, Rosa Crocker, Franklin Warper, and new Hampton District member Doug Baumgardner have their plates full this year and challenges aplenty, but they have stood up to and overcome difficulties before and they will succeed once again.
Hats off to you, Rappahannock County School Board, and our respect and admiration for a superlative effort.
