that County Attorney Peter Luke recently learned that Rappahannock County churches are being charged in error the local utility tax for telephone service.

Mr. Luke said that he has identified a number of county church telephone numbers in the telephone directory, but was concerned about'those church telephone numbers that are rollover numbers or are otherwise unlisted.

Mr. McCarthy asked that any churches having such unlisted numbers contact his office at 675-5330 so that the local utility tax can be removed by the telephone service provider.

Mr. McCarthy reported that some pro'gress has been made in the ongoing evaluation of options for emergency communications.

He cited a report authored by volunteer Richard Biby of the Rappahannock County Emergency Communications Study Committee, in which he recommended a 150-MHz system to replace the existing 35-MHz system.
