Holding their book Mrs. Eldred said: “The book that I hold in ray hand today is the much used and well-worn copy owned by the Rappahannock Historical Society.
“Little did they know that not only would this be a book to be cherished and enjoyed by all, but a serious reference book for those seeking information on their roots and the land of their forefathers."
Mrs. Johnson's contributions to the county were remembered by family and friends who gathered at the memorial service in the funeral chapel at Found and Sons in Culpeper.
Her accomplishments are many. She was key in starting the first hot lunch program in the Sperryville School and the first course in home economics in Rappahannock County.
