"grateful for the job the elementary school was doing for my boy," but added that though he did not think that the budget was a problem he was concerned about how the money was raised.
He said that more of the burden of education should fall on the parents of students, like himself, and that those without children in the school system should not be subjected to tax increases.
"I pay $1,600 in taxes,” Reinboldt said, "but I get $7,000 worth of education." He proposed that the budget be frozen at last year's level, and that alternative means of school funding be identified.
The board will consider and adopt a school budget for FY2004 at the 2 p.m. session of its May 5 meeting.
