Bennett said, “What were theoretical lot sizes could now become a reality” once a wastewater treatment system is constructed for the town, and he suggested that such a system would remove impediments to development and could well result in greater density within town limits unless lot sizes were increased to diminish that likelihood.
Bennett asked if the reason behind the wastewater treatment system was to “repair problems or to accommodate rapid residential development?”
Council members generally responded that it was to repair problems in sewage disposal in existing residences and businesses.
The council discussed Bennett’s concerns and appeared in accord with the suggestion that an effort be initiated to revise Section 5-1 to increase lot sizes, and thus decrease density and the potential impact of a wastewater treatment system.
Tbwn treasurer Jerry Goebel said that such a review and revision might take from six months to a year to complete.
