Bill Schmieder said that they have probably received 125 phone calls frorp people offering to pray for them and letting them know that they were keeping their eye out for Pete.
“Karen and I are going to put a sign out at the bottom of the driveway when we finally give up hope just to thank the community for what they did. You know, we’ve only been here two years but they treated us like family,” he said.
He also said the most remarkable thing for them as a family was having people say they don’t want the $1,000 reward that they just want to help them find their dog.
The county’s sheriff told the Schmieders that everyone in the county knew that the dog was missing.
He said the two animal control wardens, Sharp and James Leake, went out of their way to help.
“We’re just searching all of Rappahannock County and following up on leads,” said Sharp. “This guy called (about a sighting) this morning and (then) we called them. Basically any calls for labs we take note.”
