The always eagerly awaited Friends of the Library (FOL) book sale is on schedule for Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the old Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue, according to Library Director David Shaffer.
This year’s sale promises to be huge, with tons of books donated by individuals and estates, and proceeds from the sale will help make up for shortfalls in state funding in Fiscal Year 2004. Library trustee and FOL President Louise Van Dort added that book moving, from the library to the Washington School, is planned for the week of June 16, and she encouraged offers of assistance from library patrons and friends with pickup trucks.
Director Shaffer also informed the Library Board of Trustees at their May meeting, that Children’s Librarian Cindy Arbelbide has completed preparations for the summer reading program that will start June 25 and run through August 16.
