The RCHS girls' track team ran to a fourth-place finish at the Group A, Region B Meet held May 21 at the University of Virginia s Lannigan Field.
The Lady Panthers competed, along with 22 additional teams, on a rain-soaked track and left with six members qualifying for next Saturday's Group A State Championship Meet.
Ryisha Cook led the Lady Panthers with a first-place finish in the 100m dash (12.93 seconds) and second-place finishes in the long jump (16’ 1") as well as the triple jump (34’ 4 J>9"). Cook suffered an injury in the 100m dash and was unable to compete in the 200m dash event; however, her Bull Run District Meet performance (26.26 seconds) met the state qualifying standard and she will compete in that event next week. Cook finished the day with 26 individual points.
