The supporters of the light ordinance, naturally, were pleased by the outcome.
“I’d have liked for the vote to be unanimous,” said Gwen Hayes, who has been a constant force in support of the ordi-, nance from the start. “But I’m pleased. The ordinance is going forward, and that’s what we want.”
And Sarah Gannon of the Piedmont Environmental Council said, “We were very much for it, and it is definitely a positive advance.”
“It was important to take a vote and get a resolution,” said McCarthy. “The feeling was, ‘Let’s get on with it and get a yay or nay with the supervisors.’ It’s time to take action and move on.”
The county supervisors will make their decision at their Aug. 2 meeting.
