School Superintendent, Dr. Chappell, urged the graduates “to learn how to persevere. Don’t quit one job until you find another one.” And several mothers and fathers in the audience agreed with their muffled applause. “Persevere if you get hitched. It takes give and take,” he said, reminding the audience that he had persevered in marriage for 37 years. In marriage as in everything else, he said, “Don’t be afraid to say you are wrong, or to tell someone when they are right.”
