presented a certificate by R. L. Noll of Martinsburg, W. Va. who is section manager for the postal system. Mrs. Lillard has worked in the Flint Hill post office for over 25 years and has been the postmaster for the past five years. An officer in charge will be appointed temporarily for the post office.
Bobby Gehringer of Flint Hill played the role of Melchoir in “Follow That Star" presented at Wakefield Country Day School. The play, a delightful spin-off on the Three Wise Men, also included in its cast Laureen Wemmer as first wife. Amey Harris, a servant girl, and Joey Tisenger, first son of King Melchoir. The play was presented Friday for parents and Tuesday for students at Rappahannock County Elementary School. The three-act play was written by Mrs. Pamela Lynn, assistant administrator of the school. The music classes and school choruses directed by Mrs. Gloria Harris, provided musical interludes for the program.
Melanie Thornhill, a freshman at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, returned to her alma mater, Rappahannock County High School, this week to tell an assembly of seniors and juniors of her time last summer in Switzerland with the Lions International Youth Exchange program. Melanie described her five-week visit in The Alps as an experience she would never forget. “I stayed with three different families,” she said. “We went skiing, and spent some days lounging in the sun.” Melanie said she was treated as a member of the family in each household and has made some life-time friendships.
