There was no truth to the rumor, but by 2:00 in the afternoon gas lines were forming at Settle’s Chevron station in Flint Hill.
“I was sitting in the Griffin Tavern, and the bartender just announced that they were shutting pumps down all over the state,” said William Jones of Front Royal VA, as he sat in his Jeep, part of the line at Settle’s to buy regular gas priced $3.20 a gallon.
“Everyone’s been saying they heard that there was going to be a shutdown but no one’s told us anything,” said Regina Hensley, an employee of Mayhugh’s Citgo in Amissville.
