blown apart. Lauer suspects the brown color of of the twister as it rolled along the ground, was probably from all the dust and dirt in and around the demolished shed.
“I hung up the phone, saying I had to get to the basement.... After a little bit it got quiet, and I looked out again and saw trees broken up, it looked like (the child’s game) pick up sticks” Lauer recounted.
Although the twister wandered a winding path across their yard, obliterating a shed and ripping apart many dozens of trees only a very short distance away, the house and vehicles were narrowly spared. There is just a lot of firewood to be cut up and nail filled boards from the demolished shed strewn all about.
Neighboring Fauquier County experienced high wind activity that same evening damaging several homes in the Marshall area.
