start ot the school year is welcome but
no smoothie
School administrators universally use the word “smooth” to describe the opening of school. “Smooth” doesn’t accurately describe our first day. Opening day was delayed from Aug. 29 to Sept. 6 because construction did not go smoothly during the summer. Despite that, our instructional and support staff did an efficient, professional job of getting the 2005-2006 school year underway. We had a total of 968 students in attendance on the first day this year compared to 999 last August. Most students seemed eager and excited to be back in school. After the usual orientation sessions, the real work - teaching and learning - began.
