Located on Route 522 in historic SperryviUe Village, the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church brings together two worlds 6f worship - the best of the past and the brightest of the future.
On Sundays at 8:45 a.m., Reynolds’ early service combines contemporary Christian music with local Christian talent for a fast-paced and informal worship experience. Time for fellowship (with refreshments) follows the contemporary service, then Sunday School classes for all ages run from 10-10:45 a.m.
Reynolds traditional service starts at 11 a.m. each Sunday. Rousing historic hymns, adult choral special music, children’s sermons and more traditional elements of worship make this a reverent, rewarding worship experience.
At both services visitors will discover that the Holy Bible is God’s true word and Jesus Christ is Lord.
Beyond regular worship services, ministries for the family and individuals are mainstays at Reynolds. In summer, Vacation Bible School and Creation Camps provide fun and foundational moral development for children ages infant to 18. Mother’s Uplifting Mothers (MUMS) is a woman’s Bible and book study that meets Thursdays at 9:45 a.m. where quality child care is provided. On Tuesday evenings, informal, serious Bible study runs from 7-8 p.m.. In recent years, focused classes for couples have been exceedingly popular and productive. Course topics include: Christian financial solvency and stewardship, JudeoChristian parenting and Biblical covenant marriage. Reynolds also has been active in prison ministry for more than 15 years.
Every year, in all seasons, Reynolds sponsors numerous Christian growth excursions to specialty conferences, concerts and evangelistic events.
Reynolds is among a handful of Baptist churches designated as a prestigious “Pioneer Virginia Baptist Church.” Founded in 1787, its present location and structure date to 1925. The sanctuary is adorned with some of the most beautiful stained glass in Rappahannock County. Each enormous window depicts a Biblical scene which retells the story of Jesus Christ.
