dren will begin the study of Spanish s with Silvana Ruckman, a graduate of Louisiana Tech who will teach this romance language to lower school students through grade seven. Fully bilingual, Mrs. Ruckman has already incorporated songs, games, and technology into her lesson plans. She is pursuing her Master’s in Education through Old Dominion University.
Also working with the lower school will be Lisa Cieplak, who will serve as a classroom assistant in kindergarten and grade one and work in after-school care. Mrs. Cieplak has previous expertise not only as a preschool teacher but also as a Senate staffer — quite a combination!
Paul Gresser is Wakefield’s new addition in the prep school. He will teach Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus, and act as sponsor of the school newspaper (The Hoot). Mr. Gressler is finishing up his doctoral program in physics and mathematics at the University of Maryland. As a tutor and lab instructor, Mr. Gresser has presented at national conferences on lesson design and classroom dynamics.
