Wakefield Country Day School recently held their fourth annual Art Show and Auction at the school’s Leonard Cowherd Auditorium which was transformed into an elegant, vaulted-ceiling art gallery for the evening.
Some 215 parents, friends, and supporters of Wakefield Country Day School showed their respect for both the professional artists exhibited and the talented young artists by buying a record number of works. When final figures are in, the school expects to tally a record profit of over $20,000 for this successful event.
The highlight of the evening was the spirited bidding at a live auction for the works of art by pre-school through the seventh grade students under the guidance of art teacher Suzanne Zylonis. The bidders were told of the children’s view of their art, undoubtedly influencing the high bids on many charming works. Among the charming comments of the children, in their own words, were:
