Friends, if you weren’t there on Sunday evening you did miss something wonderful. The fire department held their Luncheon with Santa and had quite a decent turn out with a good amount of donations being received. Everyone had a great time with a lot of folks stopping by after church and others that came for the meal and seemed to stay for hours talking, laughing, and catching up with each other. Some folks stayed for the whole event start to finish and never even seemed to notice the time. Then friends, then came my favorite part. Sadly though, it did not last nearly long enough. The Chester Gap Baptist Church choir came out and a little after 4:30 p.m. joined in with the members of the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department in lighting the community Christmas tree and in singing Christmas carols. If I had to describe it m one word I’d have say that it was altogether “wonderful.”
The mix of the tree and friends, along with the snow on the ground and the few flurries that were falling while they sang the old carols, was something I’d always hoped to see in our little community and will always cherish. Everyone always talks about how they’d like to live in a warm and loving community. Well, here she is folks, all you need to do is join in and if you weren’t there then I do feel sorry for you indeed.
