Designation Proposal
Dear Mr. Whitehurst:
The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors is in receipt of a letter from Jean Gregory of your agency, dated October 19, 2005, concerning the abovecaptioned matter. In this letter, Ms., Gregory requested “comment on the consistency of the nomination with the locality’s comprehensive plan”. The Board conducted a public hep~'~ 0 on December 12, 2005, to solicit citizen input on the proposal.
Members of the Board of Supervisors and the public, mindful of the changing nature of regulations, have expressed strong reservations about a designation which, to all appearances, is immutable. Specifically, while the current regulatory restrictions which result from a Tier HI designation are fully defined, future amendments or alterations are not. A permanent designation of the Hazel
