Ruth Virginia Dennis Beddingfield died November 22 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD.
She was bom in Hagerstown, MD., on July 31, 1923 to the late Rev. William B. Dennis and Alice Zombro Dennis.
At the age of seven, she and her family moved to Scrabble, Virginia, a little town at the foot of Red Oak Mountain.
Mrs. Beddingfield went to school at Hope Hill and Woodville then to the Sperryville High School where she graduated in 1942.
Soon after graduation she married a young soldier, Gurthie Beddingfield. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She worked in the office for Dr. Mills and Dr. Ryu and also the insurance office at the Alexandria Hospital and the offices of Dr. Murphy, Thomas and Pekal. After her husband died in 1980, she lived alone for awhile then she went to Maryland to five with her son. Then she moved to Colonial Beach in a house next to her sister, Lolita. There she lived happily for five years caring for her beautiful flowers and helping her neighbors. After this terrible sickness struck her, she then went back to her son in Maryland and from there to the Holy Cross Hospital where on November 22 she went home to be with the Lord.
She is survived by a son, Duffy Beddingfield, and wife, Shelly, two granddaughters, one grandson, four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Additional survivors include three sisters, Lolita, Colleen and Joyce and husband, Rufus Scott, two brothers, Dickie Dennis and wife Pat and Warren Dennis and wife Mary and two sisterin-laws and many family members and friends.
Mrs. Beddingfield was preceded in death by a daughter, Ginger B. Wease, four sisters, Marie, Gloria, and still-bom twin girls, two brothers, Jack and Bill Dennis, and four brother-in-laws, one nephew and one niece and two grandsons.
