Perhaps reflecting her scholastic background, DeLong’s approach in the pulpit could be called educational. In DeLong’s words: “In my services you will hear reading of scripture, at least three readings each Sunday. I follow the Revised Common Lectionary; three readings and a threeyear cycle,” explained DeLong.
This formula asks for a Psalm, something from the Old Testament, something from the Gospels and something else from the New Testament in each sermon.
If you were to attend church every Sunday for three years, you would hear all of the gospels and a large portion of the rest of the bible by the end.
Another bit of educational outreach DeLong has brought to her services is a portion aimed at children: “Each Sunday I offer a children’s time; a little service in a nutshell, a few props.... It’s an ‘if you build it, they will come’ sort of thing” explained DeLong. She performs three services every Sunday, starting at 8:45 in Flint Hill, then North to Huntly and Willis Chapel and
