resources and provide for their protection by:
a) Encouraging greenbelts along the rivers.
b) Informing the public of the benefits and values of preserving the river corridor.
c) Controlling development in areas adjacent to the rivers that may include development restrictions such as setbacks, buffers, or other means, or limitations on water withdrawals and/or effluent discharges.
The Board of Supervisors is cognizant of its responsibilities as a steward of Rappahannock County’s natural resources, perhaps most particularly of its water resources They feel that they have discharged this responsibility with all due care, and that their adoption of the Comprehensive Plan and provisions such as are mentioned above bear this out as effectively as any Exceptional Waters designation.
The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors hereby respectfully opposes the proposed Tier III designation for the Hazel River.
