You must also research the species and find out if the plantings are selfpropagating or if male and female plants are required. Ornamentals are smaller in structure and may be more affected by drou^its, frosts and damaging winds.

Having said that, there are advantages as well. The ornamentals small size makes them ideal for a small property. Pruning and maintenance can keep the proper structure for the environment. When planted with a consistent background such as evergreens, results can be quite staking.
