The first yeur our county participated. we were the top fiimi raiser per capita in the !i-state Mid Atlantic division and we were seventh in the nation! Rappahannock residents continue to be generous. Last year contributions amounted to over $91,000 and we ranked second in the state. The money raised is used tor patient sennit's, cancer education, prevention, early detection, cancer advocacy. college scholarships tor survivors of childhood cancer, and fiir research. The ACS has played a role in milestone cancer research including bone marrow transplant, the PAP test, mammography; and drag development such us Giecvec mid Tammdtin. The ACS has actually tunded 40 Nobel Prize winning cancer researchers.
