‘We need power”
Wednesday morning started out like any other beautiful spring morning in Rappahannock. Then, at around 8:30 a.m., the lights went out, and the phones, and the computers.
For those of you who don’t know, a Wednesday is the most critical day of the week for us at the Rappahannock News. It’s drop-dead deadline day and nano-seconds lost or gained can be gauged in blood pressure rates and the constant need for something sweet. Now, it was punt mode. Everything we need to put out an issue of the paper is locked inside the brains of our computers. We also need fax machines and Internet and being able to phone Leesburg where our paginators reside is also helpful.
