Staying healthy

More low-cost and ingenious ideas for staying healthy without a lot of money were presented in the informal part of the conversation, led by Aging Together’s partnership director, Sallie Morgan. Some tips from the Community Conversations:

• Find a walking path that’s comfortable for you and use it. One older woman uses the track at Rappahannock County High School for regular walks, with special permission from the school. The walking tour through the town of Luray was also recommended, as was the Mt. Marshall fire trail.

• Encourage use of local foster homes for seniors who can’t stay in their homes, a program accredited and monitored by Rappahannock Social Services.
