all the newspapers being sold out, and lines at the store, and having trouble finding a parking place on weekends. Life is tough, huh? But for the people who sell newspapers, for the folks who run the store with the lines, these are not social inconveniences. These are the moments that mean you might have a little left over when you pay your note. This is the real world. That money goes to the local bank, or to other local stores and services. That income goes around and around in the county. When people drive out to enjoy these hills, they may encroach a bit upon our rural comfort, but it is not always a bad thing. The positives of the tourism business, a low impact for a high dollar, mostly concentrated in just a few months, far outweigh the negatives of its absence.
These tourists are not our enemies. They are usually hard working folks who have come out here to briefly enjoy what we are blessed to have everyday. And yes, they leave that filthy lucre behind.
